The 3rd DIY LFCA

Sorry, sorry, sorry to do this for a second day, but I again have limited Internet access. Things will go back to normal some time today, so use the comment section below to serve as the list for the final time. This is how to leave a comment for support.
  1. Leave the comment anonymously (even if you're okay with people knowing who submitted it, let's have everyone use the anonymous feature to be consistent).
  2. Choose a category: Miscellaneous News, Birthdays or Anniversaries, Loss Remembrances, Loss Announcements, Miscellaneous Support, Bed Rest Babes, Pregnancy Announcements, or Birth/Adoption Announcements.
  3. Link to the blog by using the format below. Obviously change the category name, blog url, and message to suit your blurb. This is just a sample. When put in the comment section like this, it will turn out looking like this: Support: Stirrup Queens is having a hard time. Please go over and give her a hug.
And then don't forget to use the list, click through, and leave comments. And check back throughout the day--people added things over time rather than just getting the whole LFCA in one gulp.

If you would also like the blurb to appear in the next LFCA, submit it additionally to the LFCA form.

Gah--the most massive LFCA in the world will come tomorrow.

The 2nd DIY LFCA

The general feedback for those who spoke up was that this system worked. So we're using it again today because I have limited Internet access. Use the comment section below to serve as the list.

If you would also like the blurb to appear in the next LFCA, submit it additionally to the LFCA form.

Thank you for doing this again. Anything that is currently on the form will be uploaded the next time I post. It will be sort of a massive LFCA since it will include stuff that came in over the weekend too.

406th Issue of the LFCA

Welcome to today's edition of Connections Abound. The point to Lost and Found is to level the support playing field. When LFCA works correctly, the newest blogger with the smallest readership can receive the same level of support as the oldest blogger with the largest readership. Anyone can submit news to LFCA by clicking here.

Lost and Found is open to anyone in the
infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, pregnancy-and-parenting after infertility, assisted conception, living child-free after infertility or loss community (as well as anyone I inadvertently missed on that list). Please support the list as well as anyone posting announcements below.

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS
New
  • Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day: Please vote for this one from Uppercase Woman. A very honest look at how complaining is shaping the way the author is thinking and feeling. It had crossed over from being a steam valve to becoming a lens and I love this frank look at her words and her path to change. How do you vote? Simply by clicking on the words "this one" above and then clicking on the post's title. Why the Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day? Click on that link in the header navigation bar above for the story. And send me stuff!
  • Feedback Requested: Taking into account that there are problems with even this version of the LFCA, how was the DIY LFCA yesterday for when we're in a pinch? Better than the forum? Better than nothing? Is there anything to make it better? Is it worth doing if I have a day when I can't post?
  • New Site: There is a new adoption networking site called Adoption Voices. It is a lot like facebook but for people that are influenced by adoption. That includes looking to adopt, have adopted, were adopted, or placed a child for adoption. It also is for people who advocate adoption.
  • Advocacy Day: Miriam wrote that yesterday was Resolve's Advocacy Day. "Write to your congressperson, raise your voice, get on your blog or Facebook or Twitter...advocate for infertility coverage!"
  • Moving Spaces: Mandy from Where's My Baby? is moving blogs (her fertility journey is on the other blog, she will be updating "Where's My Baby", but not about that) If you'd like to access it please email her at the address she has posted on her old blog.

  • Helpful List: If you're waiting for the call, or not sure what you need in those first few days of parenthood, Tequila Cinco for Our Family Beginnings has compiled a list of what to bring with you and what you can leave at home when you go to meet your new baby.
  • Moving Site: Get Pregnant has moved to this new space.
  • Vote: Weebles Wobblog is up for an award and she needs your vote. I've made the message 140 characters so people could tweet it too: "Help my friend: Go here http://www.socialluxelounge.com/blogluxe/ Go to "most inspiring." First row--vote Weebles Wobble. Please RT." Or, er, and don't just tweet it; vote too! And daily. Through July 6th.
  • Forums: If you are not a member of the forums, you will not have access to the LFCA on days when we are utilizing an open thread in the forums instead of posting on this site. Any blog reader or writer can become a member of the forums by clicking here and registering. On days when we don't have the LFCA, it also follows that I'll be slow on approving new members (that whole lack of Internet access thing) so please be patient.

The 1st DIY LFCA

Well, we've had other DIY LFCAs, but we've never tried this before on a day that I can't post. And since I'm on the Hill today for Resolve's Advocacy Day, it seemed like a good time to give this a whirl. Let's use the comment section below to serve as the list.

If you would also like the blurb to appear in the next LFCA, submit it additionally to the LFCA form.

We can discuss tomorrow how well this works...

  • Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day: Please vote for this one from Weebles Wobblog. A very important post to read if you're having trouble with panic over not knowing the future. How do you vote? Simply by clicking on the words "this one" above and then clicking on the post's title. Why the Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day? • Question and Support: Eye Heart Internet writes: "I got my beta this morning, a BFP : Barely Frecking Positive. It's 13. Today is 14 days since egg retreival, and 12 after the transfer of one 3 cell embie. My RE is concerned and told me to stay guarded/not get my hopes up yet. I have to go back Friday and then Monday to see if it doubles... I'm wondering if it is silly at this point to keep hoping. Do you know much about low beta? If someone knows about it, and has either good or bad news, to email me or stop by my blog?"

  • Offer: Are you equally smitten with the interactive image MLO helped me design for the blogroll blueprint? She is now offering to make interactive images and badges for the rest of the community as well as other cool things such as mouseover effects. "For WordPress or Blogger: Simple Shapes (Square, Rectangle, Triangle, Circles) with existing and accurate picture cost 10 links or less, $20.00. Each additional 10 links $10.00. MouseOver effects such as tooltips: $10.00 per 10. All packages include testing, and 3 unique troubleshooting emails (emails subsequent to a unique issue are not counted against the 3 unique issues). What I need from you: (1) Picture, (2) existing link locations (can't link to something that doesn't exist. Use your blog's future publishing date and give me an ID to see the posts.), and (3) indication of which blogging platform you use. If you have an unusual picture that has irregular shapes, I will need to give you an estimate. If you need help with a picture, I can provide really, really skeletal stuff a la xkcd, but nothing fancier. Depending on what you want done, I can give you an estimate." It's a very cool way to create one badge that can lead to multiple places. She made another one for me that I'm revealing at Show and Tell this week.
  • Project: Fertility Stories is collecting stories right now. She writes: "Fertility Stories: In Search of Parenthood is a project to collect stories from women, men, and couples who have experienced fertility problems and use those stories to create a theatrical performance piece that will change public awareness and perception. It is my hope that this project will contribute to public conversations about fertility, assisted reproductive technology, and all the various ways that we aim to create family; that it will provide a means for healing and challenge what we think we know about who seeks fertility treatment and why. How You Can Get Involved: (1) Share your story – email me your story at andreamj09@gmail.com or post a short version of it as a comment on the blog. (2) Consider being interviewed for the project. Send an email to andreamj09@gmail.com with details about how to contact you to schedule an interview. (3) Consider becoming an interviewer and collecting stories from others. (4) Share the link to this website with friends, family, coworkers – you never know who has been dealing with infertility silently.
  • Project: Inanna writes: " I wrote The Doctors (tv show) a letter, and I'd like to encourage every baby-loss mama who reads my blog to write them about your loss as well. Tell them your story. We all know how much we hate getting new 'members' to this little club of ours. Let them know there are women out here who are suffering, and maybe, just maybe we can get The Doctors to talk about stillbirth awareness and prevention and help us keep our numbers down. That would be a blessing, wouldn't it?"
  • Vote: Carly Marie, of To Write Their Names in the Sand, is entered in a contest called Creative for a Cause. If she wins, $60,000 will go to SIDS and Kids Australia and she will receive a new camera package. Voting is easy and does not require registration, so go vote once for each email address you have.

  • Contest: Creating Motherhood writes: "You can win a free 23andMe genetic test (That’s a $399 value that includes access to detailed information about your traits, family background and health predispositions) on Cali's review blog this week. I wrote about my experience with the test and found it to very eye opening. Their data includes a lot about genetic infertility and pregnancy symptom predispositions."

  • Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day: Please vote for this one from Bottoms Off and On the Table. Work has always been her refuge from infertility, but this is a post about what happens when her one safe place becomes another space where she needs to confront the emotions of family building. How do you vote? Simply by clicking on the words "this one" above and then clicking on the post's title. Why the Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day? Click on that link in the header navigation bar above for the story. And send me stuff!
Carly Marie does so much for the babyloss community and really deserves to win for her beauiful photograph. Please go vote for her by clicking here. Voting is easy and does not require registration, so go vote once for each email address you have.

If you would like the password, please email your name, email address, and blog address to her at mommysomeday@charter.net.
  • Question: Mary's doctors have told her up until now she would want to have a cerclage done in her pregnancy to help prevent preterm labor from her unicornuate uterus. After her 8 week ultrasound her curren OB/GYN would like to hold off on the cerclage, monitor, and place an emergency one if it becomes necessary. She is torn and looking for advice from others on what you'd do.
