Thursday's Connections Abound

Welcome to today's edition of Connections Abound. The point to Lost and Found is to level the support playing field. When LFCA works correctly, the newest blogger with the smallest readership can receive the same level of support as the oldest blogger with the largest readership. Anyone can submit news to LFCA by clicking here.

Lost and Found is open to anyone in the infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, pregnancy-and-parenting after infertility, assisted conception, living child-free after infertility or loss community (as well as anyone I inadvertently missed on that list). Please support the list as well as anyone posting announcements below.

Connections Abound

  • Harriet the Spy is the current book club selection and everyone is invited to join along.
  • Question and Password Protection: Rachel writes: "I found out last Thursday that I am pregnant for the first time. My first beta was on Monday and it was 2236. I'm so new to this side of TTC that I don't know if that's good or bad, so I'm still nervous. I just got back from my second beta and should have results tomorrow. I am also going to be password-protecting pregnancy-related blog entries until we tell our family. Anyone who is interested or who can give me advice about my beta numbers can e-mail me at"
  • Question: Deb writes: "I have had blood pressure problems when taking BCP in the past. Now, the GYN wants me to start taking Provera for a few months. Has anyone with a history of blood pressure problems had issues on Provera?" Head over to her blog if you can answer this question.
  • U.T.E.R.U.S. Update: We are so damn close! We currently have raised $2833.04. We have under $200 left to raise. New eBay auctions are always going up and the etsy store can use your help. Any money we make over the total will be held for the next U.T.E.R.U.S. fundraiser to give us a head-start.
  • IComLeavWe is over for October. If you made Iron Commenter status, let me know so I can add you to the Wall of Honour. The list for November goes up this Thursday evening.
  • Password Protected: Journey to Junior has decided to go password-protected starting Friday. If you would like to continue to follow her journey, please leave your email address in the comments section of her blog or email it to
  • Bridges continues to post daily. And it continues to be an amazing resource for insight into a multitude of worlds. And I'm not just saying that because I work on it.
  • If you notice another loading slow down or receive error messages for Stirrup Queens or Lost and Found, please let me know. Now I'm nervous every time I add anything to the side bar!
NEW BLOGS (started in September or October 2008)
  • None Today.
BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES (celebrate your birthday or blogoversary with the community. Send me date at any point and I'll post them on the correct day)
  • It was Vintage Mommy's birthday this week. Go over and sing her a little song.
  • Alexa's birthday is Friday. Go have some cake with her.
  • Loribeth at The Road Less Travelled is celebrating her one-year blogoversary on Friday. Go wish her congratulations.
LOSS REMEMBRANCES (send in the dates of loss anniversaries and I will post them on the correct day)
  • Today is the estimated due date for Tina's third loss. Please go give her a hug.
  • Today is the unfulfilled due date for the loss that Jenni and her husband experienced earlier this year. Go give her a hug.
  • Beth's father died on the 27th. Please go over and give her words of support.
MISCELLANEOUS SUPPORT AND CELEBRATIONS (scary scans, anxious waits, OHSS, and a host of other reasons why these bloggers could use some additional support right now. Also, celebratory retrievals, transfers, and other good news)
  • The Shifty Shadow has her egg retrieval today. Cross your fingers and toes for her!
  • Lisa's transfer is today. Go give her good thoughts.
  • Jaded is waiting on calls about getting a new job. It's looking good, but she could use a little attention while she waits.
  • Gin and Tonic Extra Lime is starting stims on Friday for IVF #2. Go wish her good luck.
  • Brenda has posted a beautiful photo done by To Write Their Names In The Sand to honour her son Zak.
  • Calliope's grandma's PET scan results came back clear except for a bit on the arm where the original spot of melonoma is. The dr's gave her some good options so that they can remove the remaining cancer without worrying about anesthesia.
  • Faith just had her ER and is waiting for a fert report and her ET.
  • Lady Bits had a great 20-week ultrasound, but could use some support regarding family conflict.
  • Ashley and her DH are completing their home study for the foster system and hope to adopt a child through it. Support for this exciting and stressful time would be appreciated.
BEDREST BABES: on bedrest following infertility or loss and needing support. Drop in on them and keep them company.
  • Kicking You From The Inside is pregnant unexpectedly 8 months after her son was born. The beta was high but the progesterone level was low, so she is being cautiously optimistic.
  • Elizabeth's u/s went well - there is a baby with a heartbeat! Sadly, it looks like there was a twin that did not make it.
  • Fromheretomaternity's blood pressure is up and the doctor is promising to "pull out all the stops" but said it will be an uphill battle during the remainder of her pregnancy.
  • The 7-week ultrasound revealed twins for the Happy Not-So-Newlywed!
  • The Maniacal Mommy had a great ultrasound.
  • HerStory's water broke and contractions have started! More updates to come.
  • Candi gave birth early to a boy, Carter, after a scary delivery. Mom and baby are doing well. Go wish them congratulations.
