Wednesday's Connections Abound

Welcome to today's edition of Connections Abound. The Face-to-Face Lost and Found page is permanently located beneath this current post. Old Connections Abound can be accessed via the date or subject archives listed on the sidebar. Check the submissions page, FAQ, and ways to get involved for additional information. Email me at thetowncriers@gmail.com with any questions/concerns.

Lost and Found is open to anyone in the infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, pregnancy-and-parenting after infertility, assisted conception, living child-free after infertility or loss community (as well as anyone I inadvertently missed on that list). Please support the list as well as anyone posting announcements below.

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS
New
  • I'm posting the new IComLeavWe list for August tonight at midnight (a day early) because Friday is the Roundup Extravaganza. Join in the conversation--it's a week of increased comments and commenting (and hopefully picking up a few new permanent readers along the way).
  • IF in TVland: Calliope passed along word that the new season of Mad Men has an IF storyline. Setting the tape machine to catch the next episode...
  • Summer Reading: If you want to participate in a book exchange and trade your old books for new reads, contact Michell via I Want to be a Mommy and leave your contact info (and maybe books you'd want to add to the exchange?) in the comment section.
Old
  • Um...Luna pointed out yesterday that I didn't announce my own new blog on Lost and Found. Can we chalk it up to not too bright? There is a new blog called Bridges that is a consortium of awareness bloggers who are using their writing to educate and build empathy. If you would like to join along, there is information on the site about how to get involved from reading with an open heart to publicizing it on your site to joining the awareness blogroll to being a contributing editor (or contributing posts).
  • Update on Mary: for those who are following along at home, Mary's second betas more than doubled. No more appointments until the first ultrasound in two weeks. But hopefully only good news from here on out with this donor embryo cycle. You can leave her good wishes in the comment section and she'll pick them up.
  • New Site: the divine and fabulous Ms. Manda from I Think I Hear Your Mother Calling has set up a forum for infertility bloggers called Desperately Seeking Spawn. It is a fantastic space to ask a question, start a discussion, throw out blog ideas. Go over and join the conversation.
  • If you notice another loading slow down or receive error messages for Stirrup Queens or Lost and Found, please let me know. Now I'm nervous every time I add anything to the side bar!
NEW BLOGS (started in June or July 2008)
BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES (celebrate your birthday or blogoversary with the community. Send me date at any point and I'll post them on the correct day)
  • Mothering My Miracle Multiples is celebrating her birthday on Friday. Go over and sing her a little song.
  • Io's birthday is this Saturday. Go over and have a piece of cake.
  • Kristin celebrated her 8th wedding anniversary yesterday. It's not to late to send them best wishes.
  • Between the Lines also had her anniversary yesterday. Go wish them congratulations.
LOSS REMEMBRANCES (send in the dates of loss anniversaries and I will post them on the correct day)
  • Owen was born one year ago today. Please go give Ashleigh a hug.
  • Mrs. Muelly is remembering Cooper who was born at 21 weeks a year ago today.
LOSS ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • None Today.
MISCELLANEOUS SUPPORT AND CELEBRATIONS (scary scans, anxious waits, OHSS, and a host of other reasons why these bloggers could use some additional support right now. Also, celebratory retrievals, transfers, and other good news)
  • Are We There Yet? is signing Lucky's adoption papers this Friday. Go wish her congratulations as well as sit with her because she's in the tail end of the two week wait.
  • Busted's FET has been tentatively scheduled for August 13th. Go wish her good luck.
  • STE could use a little extra support at the moment.
  • Snarky Bitch was in the hospital where they tried to put in a cerclage, but her cervix was too high. Go over and keep her company right now.
  • Life After Infertility and Loss is feeling quite anxious as she anticipates her upcoming hysterectomy and bladder surgery. She could use some support.
BEDREST BABES: on bedrest following infertility or loss and needing support. Drop in on them and keep them company.

I say it every now and again, but ~thank you~ Mel for doing the Lost & Found & Connections.

I try to read this everyday it's published - giving support and congrats wherever it's needed/deserved. When the time is tight, I at least try to skim through it to see if there is anyone who absolutely needs an extra pair of internet arms for a hug.

This is just simply a wonderful resource for the women (and some men) who are a part of this community. It's invaluable. I know it's gotten me through some hardcore days - when I could barely breathe, much less eat/drink and support came to me from just so many.

So again, Thank you Mel.

And I see from Rebecca's comment some support is definitely needed. I'm off to offer anything I can.

I would really (really, really) appreciate it if you could ask anyone who has dealt with preemies or full-term babies and feeding issues to contact me. I'm desperate right now, and would really appreciate it.
