Tuesday's Connections Abound

Welcome to today's edition of Connections Abound. The point to Lost and Found is to level the support playing field. When LFCA works correctly, the newest blogger with the smallest readership can receive the same level of support as the oldest blogger with the largest readership. Anyone can submit news to LFCA by clicking here.

Lost and Found is open to anyone in the infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, pregnancy-and-parenting after infertility, assisted conception, living child-free after infertility or loss community (as well as anyone I inadvertently missed on that list). Please support the list as well as anyone posting announcements below.

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS
New
  • Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day: Please vote for this one from So Blessed I Could Scream. The pep talk you need to read before you get on the road to face a family dinner at Thanksgiving. The author writes about a lesson she learned from Rugrats and how it enables her to go through her day with confidence--feigned and real. How do you vote? Simply by clicking on the link above and then clicking on the post's title. Why the Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day? Click on that link in the header navigation bar above for the story. And send me stuff!
  • 81 people already on the The Creme de la Creme List. Are you?
  • Giveaway: Northwest Mom Finds is giving away an entire Ergo HandsFree Carrier System. That's $160+ of babywearing goodness! It's a random drawing, but we'd love to see a fellow ALI community member win--it's a great tool for bonding with babies and toddlers. Contest ends today.
  • Southern Vermont: Cara of Building Heavenly Bridges is in the process of establishing a Southern Vermont Chapter of the Share Infant Loss and Support Group. Cara, as the chapter leader will provide phone, email, group, and one on one support for grieving parents and families. She will work with community hospitals and hospice programs for outreach of this sadly needed support. Another feature of the Southern Vermont Chapter will be the offering of "Memory Boxes" to grieving families. These boxes will made with donated materials and labor from local craftsmen including Cara's husband.
Cara is available to those parents who have lost an infant and can be contacted via email or through her Infant Loss Blog, Building Heavenly Bridges. Any support our LFCA community could provide, either financial or in kind donation for materials to establish this new chapter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  • Question: Mrsmuelly has a question about embryo grading. She just went through her first ivf cycle and is nervous.
  • Question: Niobe is looking for opinions on using her surrogate's last name as her baby's middle name.

  • Dog Rescue: Does anybody want a nice dog? Antigone's ex-husband wants to get rid of their dog and Antigone is too far away to take her. If you are close enough to Denver to help Sadie, let Antigone know.
  • Fundraiser: Diary of an Infertile Mad Woman writes: "This family really needs our help. I know that things are crappy with the economy right now, but if there is any way that you can help them, please do it. I am working on a few projects right now to help raise money. This little girl deserves every chance that we can give her!"
  • Fundraiser: Tammy's Journey writes: "In an effort to raise money for a possible donor egg IVF cycle, I have put together some of my writings from this blog into a book. I know most of you reading my blog are also struggling with infertility and have your own expenses, so please do not feel you have to donate by any means. I completely understand. My hope is that through this book, I can help others struggling with infertility, help family members understand a little more and help raise some money to fulfill our dream. I hope you will check it out. Thank you so much!"
  • Bridges continues to post daily. And it continues to be an amazing resource for insight into a multitude of worlds. And I'm not just saying that because I work on it.
  • If you notice another loading slow down or receive error messages for Stirrup Queens or Lost and Found, please let me know. Now I'm nervous every time I add anything to the side bar!
