Monday's Connections Abound

Welcome to today's edition of Connections Abound. The point to Lost and Found is to level the support playing field. When LFCA works correctly, the newest blogger with the smallest readership can receive the same level of support as the oldest blogger with the largest readership. Anyone can submit news to LFCA by clicking here.

Lost and Found is open to anyone in the infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, pregnancy-and-parenting after infertility, assisted conception, living child-free after infertility or loss community (as well as anyone I inadvertently missed on that list). Please support the list as well as anyone posting announcements below.

Connections Abound

  • Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day: Please vote for this one from ISO the Golden Egg. Musings on empathy best summed up by this line in the post: "I salute my sisters who cram their feet into each other’s shoes, endure the pain in order to listen, to really hear." How do you vote? Simply by clicking on the words "this one" above and then clicking on the post's title. Why the Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day? Click on that link in the header navigation bar above for the story. And send me stuff!
  • Deadline is Friday: 139 people already on the The Creme de la Creme List. Are you?
  • LFCA Category Update: since people were all over the place in their feeling about receiving messages of support long after a fact, I've decided to just include notes in the support section as we've usually done. Which means that even if it long after a moment and you need support, you should list it.
  • You Know: You know how good you felt when someone came to your blog for the first time? Well, Niki's gestational carrier, K, just wrote her first post on Niki's blog and she could use some well-wishes welcoming her into the community. That's my little way of nudging you over there.
  • Project: Clio writes: "I started an astrology research project looking for common trends in charts of women experiencing, or who have experienced IF, as a way to better understand patterns and possibilities when they finally get pregnant as well. I am aware of many studies that use astrology to find fertile times, but no published study that discusses infertility in the charts and how different planets may affect those patterns. I explain everything in this post and I'm inviting all women in this community to participate. The more data I can gather the more comprehensive and accurate I can get. Participants can volunteer their information anonymously as well. I'll be posting updates in all my findings. Thank you!"
  • Project: Sassy at Cupcakes and Conundrums is inviting people to share photos of how their community and their family is celebrating Christmas this year. Leave a comment on her blog to let her know that you'll be participating.
  • Giveaway: Baby Smiling In Back Seat is having a giveaway to celebrate Creme de la Creme. Guess her favorite post and you might win some pottery! Submit your guess by Thursday 12/18 at midnight EST.
  • New IComLeavWe list opened for December (with a caveat about participating over Christmas). Come join along and increase your comments.
  • Bridges continues to post daily. And it continues to be an amazing resource for insight into a multitude of worlds. And I'm not just saying that because I work on it.
  • If you notice another loading slow down or receive error messages for Stirrup Queens or Lost and Found, please let me know. Now I'm nervous every time I add anything to the side bar!
NEW BLOGS (started in November or December 2008)
BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES (celebrate your birthday or blogoversary with the community. Send me date at any point and I'll post them on the correct day)
  • Lostintranslation is celebrating her 35th birthday on Tuesday! Go wish her congratulations.
LOSS REMEMBRANCES (send in the dates of loss anniversaries and I will post them on the correct day)
  • Susan is remembering her due date of 12/15. Go sit with her.
  • The first anniversary of CLC's daughter, Hannah's, death and birth was Sunday, December 14. Please go give her support.
MISCELLANEOUS SUPPORT AND CELEBRATIONS (scary scans, anxious waits, OHSS, and a host of other reasons why these bloggers could use some additional support right now. Also, celebratory retrievals, transfers, and other good news)
  • BagMomma has been matched with a donor. Go over and wish her congratulations.
  • Wishing4One transferred two embryos on Friday. Beta is around the 24th so go wish her good thoughts with the wait.
  • Manda becomes a foster parent today to two boys. Please go over and give her so many hugs on this first day.
  • So Blessed I Could Scream could use a hug right now.
  • Womb for Rent's grandmother passed away on 12/11 and she probably won't be able to go to the funeral due to the ER/ET dates. Go grieve with her and wish her luck with the ER.
  • One Small Wish had 19 embryos retrieved, but only 3 are being watched at this point. Stay tuned for transfer info.
  • Sarah has an adoption orientation meeting tomorrow for adopting with the state.
  • Henry Street is officially a waiting family at her adoption agency! Go leave her wishes for a smooth and peaceful wait.
  • Back Into the Fire has decided to stop trying to get pregnant, but she is having trouble coping with the decision.
  • Megan has OHSS. Go give her support.
  • Dana's husband had surgery last week. Everything went okay despite an unexpected turn. Dana is a bit under the weather while she nurses her husband back to health and could use a bit of love.
  • Betty and Barney need serious love and hugs right now. Their IUI was unsuccessful this month.
  • Sarah from Dreams and False Alarms had her egg retrieval for IVF #4 last Friday, but the fertilization has not been going well. They're not sure if the single embryo that's still dividing will make it to transfer.
  • Mrs. Higrens will be 16 dpo with her 4th IUI on Wednesday. She could use some support during the remaining wait to test.
BEDREST BABES: on bedrest following infertility or loss and needing support. Drop in on them and keep them company.
  • Denise is on bedrest at home.
  • Dee is on bedrest after Pprom at 13 weeks. She could use support as she helps her babies defy the odds. She has made it past 20 weeks and found a specialist to take her on.
  • Elana had the cerclage and is now at home on modified bed rest.
  • Caba had her first beta on Friday at 10dp3dt and came back with a beta of 210. Sunday got a doubling beta of 461. But this is no ordinary pregnancy. Caba is her sister's surrogate, which means the family is over the moon right now. Their first ultrasound is the 22nd.
  • Bugaboo Envy has rising betas, but she is apprehensive until the first ultrasound on Wednesday.
  • On her 8th and final IVF cycle Evil Stepmonster is pregnant!
  • Mandy got a BFP!
  • Shhhhhhhh...even though she is password protected, Tara said I could scream it: Money Makes the Sperm Go Round gave birth to Ruby on December 13th. You can leave her a message of congratulations on this LFCA post if you don't have access to her blog.
  • Jaded Journey has updated her blog to give the belated announcement of her daughter's birth. Jemma was born Nov. 10th. Pop over and give your congratulations!
  • Endo=Baby? gave birth to a girl, Possum, on December 15th. Go over and wish her congratulations.
  • Rachel's little one is here! Go wish her big congrats as they scramble for a name!
