Friday's Connections Abound

Welcome to today's edition of Connections Abound. The point to Lost and Found is to level the support playing field. When LFCA works correctly, the newest blogger with the smallest readership can receive the same level of support as the oldest blogger with the largest readership. Anyone can submit news to LFCA by clicking here.

Lost and Found is open to anyone in the infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, pregnancy-and-parenting after infertility, assisted conception, living child-free after infertility or loss community (as well as anyone I inadvertently missed on that list). Please support the list as well as anyone posting announcements below.

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS
New
  • Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day: Please vote for this one from Outlandish Notions. An explanation of what happens when you borrow happiness from the future and find that you can't pay back your debt. And absolutely brilliant post that applies to so many situations. How do you vote? Simply by clicking on the words "this one" above and then clicking on the post's title. Why the Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day? Click on that link in the header navigation bar above for the story. And send me stuff!
  • 127 people already on the The Creme de la Creme List. Are you?
  • I'm currently leaning on starting a new category or simply adding another layer to the support category for additional support down the road. I'll have something up on Monday. Thank you to everyone who is weighing in as well as the kind words about LFCA. I love putting it together every day because as I'm doing it, I think about how I have felt when someone has reached out to me unexpectedly when I really needed the contact and how someone else will get to experience that. The big bloggers who have a big readership--I'm not as worried about them. But I do think about the people who just started their blogs or may not have an excellent support system in the face-to-face world or who may simply have a small readership. To know that other people also like and support the LFCA means a lot to me. Would I love to see more comments left for people? Sure (come on, this is coming from the woman who started IComLeavWe), but I also understand that it's not a perfect system, there are a limited number of minutes in the day, and that something is better than nothing.
  • Excellent Reminder: Fatty Pants wrote a lovely reminder about how simple acts of kindness during holiday season can mean so much to a kid. It doesn't have to cost much, and the tags can be found almost everywhere.
  • Question: Dora writes, "I want to know if there is interest in a New York area holiday meet-up. A holiday gathering just for us. No worries about being blindsided by stupid or insensitive questions and comments. Please comment on my blog or email me at dorasblog@gmail.com if you're interested."

  • Reporter Looking for Interviewees: this comes from a listserv so I don't know the writer at all. "Summary: Acupuncture and TCM success stories. Media Outlet/Publication: national consumer health magazine. "Please note that my anecdotes must be about women only, not men. I'm looking for a few fairly dramatic anecdotes about *women* who have benefited from any form of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). This could be acupuncture herbs, qigong, acupressure, etc. I definitely need a story from someone with an ongoing health issue who finally found relief thru acupuncture, after Western medicine had failed to deliver. I also could find a place for an anecdote about using acupuncture to enhance or replace traditional fertility treatments." If interested, email hildab@mindspring.com."
  • New IComLeavWe list opened for December (with a caveat about participating over Christmas). Come join along and increase your comments.
  • Bridges continues to post daily. And it continues to be an amazing resource for insight into a multitude of worlds. And I'm not just saying that because I work on it.
  • If you notice another loading slow down or receive error messages for Stirrup Queens or Lost and Found, please let me know. Now I'm nervous every time I add anything to the side bar!
NEW BLOGS (started in November or December 2008)

MISCELLANEOUS SUPPORT AND CELEBRATIONS (scary scans, anxious waits, OHSS, and a host of other reasons why these bloggers could use some additional support right now. Also, celebratory retrievals, transfers, and other good news)
  • Antigone's divorce is final today. Please go give her support.
  • Birds and Squirrels got a positive pregnancy test, but has a low first beta (20 at 15 dpo). She could use some support and stories of successful pregnancies with low initial betas while she waits for the second beta.
  • Cathy's son Daniel goes in for hernia surgery tomorrow, and the GI doctor wants to keep her son "for an indefinite period" of testing that may last weeks- despite the fact that she has not consented to hospitalization for this reason. He is threatening to report her and her husband as child abusers if they question his judgment. They could use a world of support right now.
  • Wishing4One's FET transfer has been postponed to Friday or Saturday due to miscommunication.
  • Melanie transferred 2 blasts from IVF #3 on Thursday and now begins the Wait.
  • Pepper has her disclosure meeting for her adoption match on Wednesday the 17th.
  • Motherhood (the not so easy road) had two positive pee sticks but her first beta was a 6, leaving her rather apprehensive. Sit with her while she waits.
BEDREST BABES: on bedrest following infertility or loss and needing support. Drop in on them and keep them company.
  • Denise is on bedrest at home.
  • Dee is on bedrest after Pprom at 13 weeks. She could use support as she helps her babies defy the odds. She has made it past 20 weeks and found a specialist to take her on.
  • Elana had the cerclage and is now at home on modified bed rest.

  • It is a positive for Our Own Creation with a fantastic beta. Please go over and give a hug and a celebratory dance.
  • Bri of UnBalancedT has had a doubling beta. Go wish her congratulations.
  • Vee broke her own rule and took a HPT... which turned positive! Please lend your support as she and Max wait for the 8 week ultrasound, and as they wait for more information on Max's growing cancer. She is still awaiting beta results and could use a lot of support.
