Friday's Connections Abound

Welcome to today's edition of Connections Abound. The point to Lost and Found is to level the support playing field. When LFCA works correctly, the newest blogger with the smallest readership can receive the same level of support as the oldest blogger with the largest readership. Anyone can submit news to LFCA by clicking here.

Lost and Found is open to anyone in the infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, pregnancy-and-parenting after infertility, assisted conception, living child-free after infertility or loss community (as well as anyone I inadvertently missed on that list). Please support the list as well as anyone posting announcements below.

Connections Abound

  • Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day: Please vote for this one from An Older Version. I'm going to try to randomly choose one of the Roundup posts each week. How do you vote? Simply by clicking on the link above and then clicking on the post's title.
  • This is so cool: My Many Blessings wrote: "Wow! I was published! I was approached in early October about an article on iParenting that was to be about couples who are experiencing infertility who seek professional counseling. I was sought out via Mel's Peer Infertility Counselor list - and was quite honored to be asked to assist with this article. The article is now published...and I hope that everyone will give it a read and find some hope (and courage to dive into counseling, if you think you need it) in it: Counseling Infertility: Professional Help for the Emotional Side of Conception.
  • New Group (NY City Area): Donor Conception New York is a new blog that hopes with its counterpart Yahoo Discussion Group to grow into a local New York area support and social group for donor conceived individuals of all ages and their families. Sometime in the first 6 months of 2009 I hope to schedule a gathering in NYC for all those interested to meet. Please check us out. Regards, Eric (DI-Dad).
  • Questions: Jen and CJ have several questions for those who have done DI and would like input from anyone with experience.
  • Question: Angry Canadian Nurse asked a question at the Lushary this week: "I'm having some trouble with the donation of my embryos. If anyone has navigated this whole pre/post FDA reg thing, and can give me some advice, I'd appreciate it. Also, has anyone ever had embryos transported from the US to Canada?"
  • A Note to Everyone From Mary: "What are the right words to say to let a group of people you have never met know that you will be forever grateful to them? How do you let them know that their kindness has touched your broken heart and helped it start to heal? That your dear darling husband feels like some of his faith in human kindness has been restored after it seemed like God Himself was conspiring against us? Thank you just doesn’t seem like enough. But, I don’t have the right words to express the depth of my feelings. I am not a blogger, I am not an eloquent writer. I am just a humble infertile woman who was brought to tears by the wonderful act of kindness bestowed on her. And my life will be forever changed because of your kindness. Thank you doesn’t seem like enough, but it is all I have and it is heartfelt. With love,~Mary"
  • Still playing with Kirtsy: how about voting for this one from Manda at I Think I Hear Your Mother Calling?
  • The new IComLeavWe list opened and there is a way to do it even with Thanksgiving. Come join along and increase the comments on your blog.
  • Harriet the Spy is the current book club selection and everyone is invited to join along.
  • Bridges continues to post daily. And it continues to be an amazing resource for insight into a multitude of worlds. And I'm not just saying that because I work on it.
  • If you notice another loading slow down or receive error messages for Stirrup Queens or Lost and Found, please let me know. Now I'm nervous every time I add anything to the side bar!
NEW BLOGS (started in October or November 2008)
BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES (celebrate your birthday or blogoversary with the community. Send me date at any point and I'll post them on the correct day)
  • Happy 25th birthday to Alicia! Go sing her a little song.
  • It is Flicka's birthday on Tuesday and she has been having a really hard time as of late. Please go over and have some cake with her.
LOSS REMEMBRANCES (send in the dates of loss anniversaries and I will post them on the correct day)
  • Loribeth is remembering her daughter on Friday, on what would have been Katie's 10th birthday (her due date). Please go over and sit with her as she remembers.
  • None Today.
MISCELLANEOUS SUPPORT AND CELEBRATIONS (scary scans, anxious waits, OHSS, and a host of other reasons why these bloggers could use some additional support right now. Also, celebratory retrievals, transfers, and other good news)
  • Baby Smiling in Back Seat has her hystereoscopy today. Go over and wish her well.
  • Tammy's Journey receives the results from her genetic testing on Monday. Go give her good thoughts.
  • Julie's husband and brother-in-law traveled to scatter the ashes of their parents yesterday. Go lend some support.
  • Nessa's marriage is falling apart and she's not sure why. So many things balled up into one great big thing. They are going to see a marriage counselor next week. She hasn't told anyone about this yet and is really struggling with what to do. The same day everything blew up they received their certification of their homestudy from the court. She is now questioning whether this is the right time to adopt. Please go encircle her in a figurative hug.
  • Rachel could use a hug.
  • A Someday Mom goes back to work on Monday. Go give her good thoughts to carry with her out of the house.
BEDREST BABES: on bedrest following infertility or loss and needing support. Drop in on them and keep them company.
  • CC at Inconceivable No More got a fetal fibronectin test and so is on modified bedrest for at least the next two week. Go keep her company.
  • Denise is on bedrest at home.
  • Great ultrasound for Thalia, measuring well and with a heartbeat.
  • After close to five years of trying, Jen of Blessed are the Barren is pregnant after her first donor embryo cycle!
  • Bobbie had a great ultrasound.
  • Conceiving is Conceivable is pregnant!
  • Hope Springs Infertile received a wonderful retrieval report for her egg donor--31 eggs! She is now awaiting the fert report.
  • Infertile Ground has her beta this weekend after positive tests and spotting. Go over and give her good thoughts.
  • None Today.

I think Mary should blog. She says "I am not an eloquent writer" but her thank you was beautiful.
