Wednesday's Connections Abound

Welcome to today's edition of Connections Abound. The Face-to-Face Lost and Found page is permanently located beneath this current post. Old Connections Abound can be accessed via the date or subject archives listed on the sidebar. Check the submissions page, FAQ, and ways to get involved for additional information. Email me at with any questions/concerns.

Lost and Found is open to anyone in the infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, pregnancy-and-parenting after infertility, assisted conception, living child-free after infertility or loss community (as well as anyone I inadvertently missed on that list). Please support the list as well as anyone posting announcements below.

Connections Abound

  • IComLeavWe list is up for September. Join the comment-loving-athon.
  • Bridges continues to post daily. And it continues to be an amazing resource for insight into a multitude of worlds. And I'm not just saying that because I work on it.
  • Opinion Wanted: Do you have an iTouch? What do you think of it? Would you buy one again? Do you find it somewhat easy to get on the Internet when you are out or is that function pretty difficult to use in terms of connecting into WiFi? You can leave your comment below or email me.
  • Event: The American Fertility Association presents New York Family Matters - Infertility and Adoption. Conference Date: Sunday, October 5th, 2008 at Steiner Studios, in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Registration and continental breakfast begin at 8 a.m. and the day ends with a wine and cheese reception at 6:00 p.m. New York Family Matters is an all day educational event geared towards the needs of all people who wish to have a family. Egalitarian in nature, all three concurrent educational tracks will focus on the needs of couples, singles and the lgbt community. Panels, lectures and small round table discussions will cover topics such as in vitro fertilization, egg freezing, adoption, pcos, surrogacy, ovum and sperm donation, and much, much more. We also feature an all day exhibit hall of approx. 60 booths where you will have the opportunity to meet professionals form all areas of family building. For further information and to register go to or call 888-917-3777. Scholarships are available.
  • Event: IES Group--Infertility Education and Support. 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 7 – 8:30pm in the Community Room of Progress West Hospital in O’Fallon, Missouri! Women only as of right now...
  • Fundraiser: Bitch magazine is holding a fundraiser. They need to raise $40,000 by October 15 or the magazine is going to fold. Bitch has written about IF (and even our blogging community!) in the past. Please help them out--even if it's just to spread the word. Just to give you a sense that this is actually attainable--they were at $1000 last night and they are already at $10,000 today. So every little bit counts.
  • Question: FilmGal30 wants to know of anyone has read the book The Fertility Handbook: A Guide to Getting Pregnant. If so, she is interested to hear your thoughts on it.
  • Watch It: The Today Show is doing a week-long series on fertility. I've missed it up until this point, but I'm going to try to catch it tomorrow. It looks like you can view some videos online.
  • Participate: Dr. Phil has a call out for married, Arizona couples who are adopting. Hmmm...
  • Celebrate It: Shaken Mama is a new blogger on Go wish her congratulations and support her work.
  • Giveaway: Life after Infertility and Loss is having a pretty dark giveaway in honour of her hysterectomy tomorrow (the gifts are not dark...just the guesswork). Please go over and not only guess the weight, but also give her good wishes for the surgery.
  • If you notice another loading slow down or receive error messages for Stirrup Queens or Lost and Found, please let me know. Now I'm nervous every time I add anything to the side bar!

Hello LFCA,

I'm new here! I'm wondering how to incorporate myself in the fertility challenged blog world. This site has been a fantastic resource for me. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into it. It truly is a new adventure for me.
