Wednesday's Connections Abound

Welcome to today's edition of Connections Abound. The point to Lost and Found is to level the support playing field. When LFCA works correctly, the newest blogger with the smallest readership can receive the same level of support as the oldest blogger with the largest readership. Anyone can submit news to LFCA by clicking here.

Lost and Found is open to anyone in the infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, pregnancy-and-parenting after infertility, assisted conception, living child-free after infertility or loss community (as well as anyone I inadvertently missed on that list). Please support the list as well as anyone posting announcements below.

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS
New
  • Fundraiser: This is a pretty amazing story. Two bloggers met online and now one is the other's surrogate. Seriously--I think that is freakin' amazing (okay, okay, one was already a surrogate who has had successful pregnancies for others, but still--they matched online). They are raising funds right now to help with the enormous cost. They also donated three heart necklaces to the current U.T.E.R.U.S. project. Please help I'm a Smart One (a Clicker!) and Embracing Happenstance in this fundraiser.
  • Widget: Guy Kawasaki created a widget for all of his Alltop sites. You can get the one for the infertility, adoption, or child-free ones here.
  • Question: Joy at The Other Shoe is looking for over-40 parenting resources. Anybody have any books or websites (aside from your own fabulous blogs, of course) to recommend? Please email them to her at joysuzanne@charter.net. Thanks.

Old
  • Opportunity: Kristen at Sticky but Sweet has just been placed as the lead media buyer on a project regarding an infertility study at her job. The clinical trial is for a patch that would be an alternative to Clomid. Ferring Pharmaceuticals has developed several print advertising concepts to recruit people for the trial and she is looking for opinions on the messaging, layout, graphics, etc. on them. For example, is anything offensive to you? Would the ad generate your interest or curiosity enough to call? If not, what would you change to motivate someone to call for more information? Her proposal is due on Friday. If you are interested in participating in her focus group of sorts, please contact her at stickybean12@gmail.com so she can forward the ads to you for your feedback.
  • Newspaper Article: The St. Petersburg Times is running a seven part series on surrogacy. This is the first in the series.
  • Giveaway: Bee in the Bonnet is giving away a Nike+ kit. Go over to win.
  • Giveaway: Niobe is giving away free perfume.
  • Logos: TTC with DH through IVF... created a bunch of blog buttons for Infertility Awareness Week. You can go grab one from her site.
  • Um...hello...did you check out the new stuff happening with U.T.E.R.U.S.?
  • Bridges continues to post daily. And it continues to be an amazing resource for insight into a multitude of worlds. And I'm not just saying that because I work on it.
  • If you notice another loading slow down or receive error messages for Stirrup Queens or Lost and Found, please let me know. Now I'm nervous every time I add anything to the side bar!

Hiya Mel,

I don't suppose you could do a teeny tiny favour? Promise it's teeny...just a click!

Pretty please turn full feeds back on for reader programs? I bet that many people now only read the header and don't click through for the news.....

But it's totally your decision, and either way thanks for maintaining L+F

xx

Readership has actually gone up substantially and other people have written to thank me for turning it off because they thought it was making people more active as readers. So I can't please everyone.
