417th Issue of the LFCA

Welcome to today's edition of Connections Abound. The point to Lost and Found is to level the support playing field. When LFCA works correctly, the newest blogger with the smallest readership can receive the same level of support as the oldest blogger with the largest readership. Anyone can submit news to LFCA by clicking here.

Lost and Found is open to anyone in the
infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, pregnancy-and-parenting after infertility, assisted conception, living child-free after infertility or loss community (as well as anyone I inadvertently missed on that list). Please support the list as well as anyone posting announcements below.

Connections Abound

  • Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day: Please vote for this one from First Comes Love. The author lists all the things she is scared about in regards to IVF and asks herself: "What am I more afraid of? IVF? Or of not doing IVF and never having children?" How do you vote? Simply by clicking on the words "this one" above and then clicking on the post's title. Why the Kirtsy'd Pick O' the Day? Click on that link in the header navigation bar above for the story. And send me stuff!
  • Roundup Extravaganza: Participate and read the three year celebration for the Friday Blog Roundup.
  • Opportunity: The Cade Foundation provides grants for couples to pay for infertility treatments or adoption fees. It looks like they will grant up to $10k. They have an application out that must be submitted by Sept. 1. I can't vouch for the organization because I don't know a lot about them, but I thought it was information definitely worth passing along. Thank you, Amanda!
  • Support: A blogger writes: "If you haven't heard, a major international adoption agency in Ontario has gone bankrupt. There are now hundreds of families whose hopes and dreams, not to mention their life savings, are gone. And there are dozens of Ethiopian children awaiting Canadian documentation that are now in limbo." There is a petition to sign to lend your voice to this cause.
  • Organization: The Sphors have started an organization called Friends of Maddie that will support families who have a child in the NICU. Head over to the site to see how you can help.
  • Forums: If you are not a member of the forums, you will not have access to the LFCA on days when we are utilizing an open thread in the forums instead of posting on this site. Any blog reader or writer can become a member of the forums by clicking here and registering. On days when we don't have the LFCA, it also follows that I'll be slow on approving new members (that whole lack of Internet access thing) so please be patient.
NEW BLOGS (started in June or July 2009)
BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES (celebrate your birthday or blogoversary with the community. Send me date at any point and I'll post them on the correct day)
  • Infertile Turtle is celebrating her anniversary on Friday. Go wish them congratulations.
  • My Journey to Mommyhood is celebrating her birthday this Saturday. Go sing her a little song.
  • Life Without Ellie is celebrating her first blogoversary on July 19th! Go wish her congratulations.
  • Belle is celebrating her anniversary (5 years with partner) on the 18th, and her birthday on the 20th. Go wish her congratulations on both occasions.
  • It was just Vee's four year blogoversary. Go wish her congratulations.
  • Living A New Life... is celebrating her blogoversary tomorrow. Go wish her congratulations.

  • None Today.
  • Mrs. J is miscarrying after a surprise pregnancy. She needs love and support right now.
  • Mulberry and Dakota lost one of their twins. Please give them support.
  • This Wasn't The Plan had an ultrasound that showed no heartbeat, and she could use a lot of support.
MISCELLANEOUS SUPPORT AND CELEBRATIONS (scary scans, anxious waits, OHSS, and a host of other reasons why these bloggers could use some additional support right now. Also, celebratory retrievals, transfers, and other good news)
  • Manda is closing her blog and has announced her separation and divorce from her husband. Please give her support.
  • Tales from my Dusty Ovaries has to go back to the hospital today for an endoscopy to remove a gallstone in her liver. Please go keep her company while she recovers.
  • All Things Griffin is in the WUB after her IUI this week. Go keep her company.
  • Sara at Gas Passer is beginning her next step with her friend M with "Operation give Brynn a Sibling." Go wish her luck.
  • Hobbit-ish Thoughts & Ramblings has a short post about the bankruptcy of an Ontario adoption agency (see "news" above). She writes: "Honestly I don't know if anyone in our blogosphere is affected, but at the very least we can spread the word and send prayers and good thoughts/vibes in their direction."
  • Hold My Hope was cancelled again. Please go over and give her support.
  • Hope.Faith.Patience is PUPO after her FET. Go sit with her during the Wait Until Beta.
  • But A Moment is now in the Wait Until Beta following her first IVF transfer.
  • Just Nesting has her annual GYN appointment and is having a tough time dealing with everything at the moment. She really needs some love and hugs.
  • Megan could use some love this morning after a particularly cruel run-in with a Clear Blue Easy digital PG test false positive.
BEDREST BABES: on bedrest following infertility or loss and needing support. Drop in on them and keep them company.
  • Michele's 19w4d scan showed that her cervix continues to shorten even with the cerclage. Although this was very disappointing, both Bobby and Maya are still doing very well and growing strong.
  • Empty Arms is experiencing several signs of incompetent cervix and is currently on bedrest. Please go keep her company.
  • Devon has been admitted to the hospital with contractions. Please send her many prayers and warm thoughts. Her little one is still too young to be born and it is important that she stay inside as long as possible.
  • Due to a shortened cervix, Stace has been admitted to the hospital for an extended stay.
  • Carrie of Tubeless in Seattle has been placed on modified bedrest and will most likely be getting a cerclage in the next week or two. Please give her some support as she awaits her triplets arrival.
  • After several positive home tests, Stacie will have her first beta on Friday.
  • None Today.
