737th Issue of the LFCA

Welcome to today's edition of Connections Abound. The point of Lost and Found is to level the support playing field. When LFCA works correctly, the newest blogger with the smallest readership can receive the same level of support as the oldest blogger with the largest readership. Anyone can submit news to LFCA by clicking here.

Lost and Found is open to anyone in the
infertility, pregnancy loss, adoption, pregnancy-and-parenting after infertility, assisted conception, living child-free after infertility or loss community (as well as anyone I inadvertently missed on that list). Please support the list as well as anyone posting announcements below.

MISCELLANEOUS NEWS
New
  • No Longer Invite Only: NYMum (formerly from 'A Year On... Our New Beginning {hopefully}') has recently changed name and gone public again. She's now Dandelion Breeze over at 'Adrift on a Dandelion Breeze' and still blogging about motherhood after losing her stillborn daughter, then struggling with secondary infertility and onto IVF, while getting closer to 40.
  • Missing Blogger: Does anyone know what happened to Rachel? I used to love her blog at Eggs In A Row. [Editor's Note: there was a blurb about her in this past LFCA]
  • Project: The Ladies In Waiting Book Club is sponsoring an infertility photography project called "The Way We See It". We are looking for anyone interesting in submitting a photograph for the project which will be presented during NIAW (4/22-28). The purpose of this project is to educate the public and our community about infertility, especially the parts that are most often ignored or left unseen. See site for more details!
  • Fundraiser: Team On The Road is Marching for Babies again. We still need to raise $610 by next weekend to meet our very ambitious goal of $1000. We are a small team of four walkers and need all the help we can get. Please consider donating or helping to spread the word by sharing the link to our team page: http://www.tinyurl.com/olivia-moonpie.
  • Philadelphia and surrounding area moms: Mother's Day can be one of the most difficult times after you've lost a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death. Join the F2F Phla Burbs chapter for an Orphaned Mothers Mother's Day Lunch on Saturday, May 12th, from 11am-1pm. Contact Michele (michele.haytko@gmail.com), of My Life After Loss (mylifeafterloss.blogspot.com) for more information of visit the F2F Phila Burbs Facebook Page to RSVP (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Face2Face-Philadelphia-Suburbs/181325135234768)
  • Toronto: "If you are in the Toronto area, please join us May 10, 2012 to support Fertile Future, a charitable organization that assists with fertility preservation for cancer patients. The event will be a meeting ground for the reproductive technology community - from fertility clinics, to lawyers, to those facing fertility challenges, they'll be there to network and learn. One of the silent auction items is a surrogacy (or egg donor) contract donated by Sara R. Cohen of Fertility Law Canada! This is a unique opportunity to secure a surrogacy contract at a great price. The event itself will be amazing - delicious food, wine, and a live artist painting to the inspiration of a concert pianist. Karma Brown, a survivor who now has a preschooler via surrogacy (her sister actually!) will be speaking at the event. To purchase tickets or for more details, please call 416.944.9957, email aneveningofhope@fertilefuture.ca or check out our web page at: http://fertilefuture.ca/an-evening-of-hope/ (our links to twitter and Facebook are on there too). In certain cases we may be able to offer rate discounts."
  • Project: InDueTime still needs people willing to submit photos for her National Infertility Awareness Video. Please stop by for more information. She's even giving away a $20 gift card!
  • Book: Krissi McVicker's memoir Ordinary Miracles: A Journey through Primary and Secondary Infertility was finally published and is now available to buy! You can find it at BarnesandNoble.com and an e-book will soon be available as well if you'd like that version. Read more about her book at: http://ordinarymiraclesbook.com.

  • The latest post on Journey With Endometriosis is a rememberance of Endo Journey's loss due to ectopic pregnancy in January. She reflects on the effects of the day and realizes that restarting fertility treatment is triggering guilt that she is forgetting her angel child.
LOSS ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • Cristy at Searching for our silver lining lost her second baby in 4 months, this time after an FET. Please swing by and show your support.
  • After 10+years of infertility, failed procedures and failed adoptions, IVF brought Lori Does Maryland their first child in November of 2009. He tragically died the next day. January 2011 brought them their second child, again, via IVF, and he is currently the sunshine in their lives. In January 2012, they attempted their third IVF cycle and were overjoyed when it was again successful. They went in for their 12 week ultrasound yesterday, and learned the baby was no longer living. The D&C was today, and again, they face devastation.
  • Jen Has a Pen miscarried her sweet miracle baby at 10 weeks 2 days on Easter Sunday. Please go give her some much needed love and support as she and her husband go through this difficult time.
MISCELLANEOUS SUPPORT AND CELEBRATIONS (scary scans, anxious waits, OHSS, and a host of other reasons why these bloggers could use some additional support right now. Also, celebratory retrievals, transfers, and other good news)
  • Mrs. T is running into one roadblock after another on her way to IVF. Please keep her your thoughts.
BEDREST BABES: on bedrest following infertility or loss and needing support. Drop in on them and keep them company. Blurbs running underneath the "new" line are from this week, and the ones above that line will disappear on Sunday. Please do not re-list bedrest blurbs.
  • Bring on the Babies... writes, "I was put on bedrest this past week at 20 weeks 2 days due to signs of preterm labor, my mother in-law had a heart attack, and I spent the night in labor and delivery Friday because of contractions and an infection...not a good week! I feel so alone with all of this and could use some support. And to top everything off, my husband is having heart surgery in less than two weeks!"
